| Numerous early printed books and periodicals now also appear in surrogate form, most frequently as microfilm copies. The Register of Preservation Surrogates (Microforms) (RPM, RPS) is a database of microform masters created for preservation reasons. The RPM always notes the existence of positive microfilm or microfiche copy of the work. These positive films can be ordered into the British Library reading rooms. |
